When Jack came to the lake he laid his head on the lap of the princess and told her to pull the lock of hair as usual but when Jack fell asleep the princess cut with her scissors a lock of hair from Jacks head and a piece of his ear. When the monster appeared she woke up Jack. He jumped on his horse and threw the third apple hitting the monster between the eyes. The apple's ray bounding in a ball of light setting fire to the lake. The monster advanced but Jack's horse plunged into the lake and bit and kicked furious as his monster cut. He jumped on the back of the serpent and Jacks rusty sword now clean and bare cut the monster in two. The head jumped to re-write with the body but the horse kicked it to
