  1. Long ago fairs used be held in villages as well as towns but the cattle were getting scarce and they did away with the fairs in the villages. The nearest fair held in a village to us was the Ballydesmond fair. Fairs use be held there once a month. Pigs and horses were sold there as well as cattle. "I was speaking to an old man who was at the last fair in Scarta glin. He told me that the fair was held in the centre of the village and
