  1. (continued from previous page)
came to Barmagh he banished the spirit for seven years. "between the bark and the tree."
The people were delighted because they could now travel the road at any time they liked without fear of meeting the spirit.
However, when the seventh year had drawn to a close, Moll's spirit came back, worse than ever and began again to frighten people out of their wits, who happened to be travelling the same road after sunset.
The priest was sent for again and when he came to her usual haunts, this time, he assured people who were speaking to him that the wicked spirit would never again cause them any trouble after sunset or before it.
When banishing Moll's spirit this time the story says that the priest condemned her to a future of useless labour for all eternity. He, is said, to have "put her draining he sea with a bottomless thimble". Her likeness, the story says, is supposed to be carved out on Barnagh Bridge.
    The End.
