    Chin-cough.
Whoever wished to get a child cured of the chin-cough should stop the first man driving a white horse who passed the way saying:
"Man of the white horse, what will cure the chincough?"
His remedy, whatever it might be, was expected to cure.
    Measles.
To cure measles milk was given to a ferret to drink for a few minutes. Then the milk left behind was given to the patient to drink.
    To prevent bleeding.
A cobweb taken from the rafter and applied to a wound was supposed to have the power of stopping the bleeding and healing the cut.
    Pain in the side.
The following was related by Mrs. Mary Dalton, aged 78 Ballinattin, Knocknagoshel.
The best way of banishing a pain in the side is to stoop down, lift up a stone, and spit (where the stone) on the spot covered by the stone. The stone must then be put back where it was found with the same down as before.
