Tribute to Mr. Franks for the building of the Knockachur - Loughfouder Bridge over the Abha Bheag

The poet, Mr. Patrick Robinson of Loughfounder, requested Mr. Franks, agent for Mrs Drummond, to erect a bridge over the Abha Bheag for the children, who had to cross the river on their way to Loughfouder School, where the poet himself taught.
While floods will bubble,
Their forces double,
On surging waves over grassy banks,
In cot and shealing,
There is anthem feeling,
To God appealing for Mr. Franks.
Through dell and dingle,
O'er rack and shingle,
Waves may commingle and torrents roar;
We despise their dancing
Their foam and prancing,
We are now bridged over for ever more.
The spell is broken,
The school door open,
The word is spoken of that noble deed,
