  1. Flax and Linen
Flax was grown in the neighbouring townland of Minish. In some parts of farms a crop of flax was usually raised for which people made linen up to about seventy years ago. The work was done by the women of the place, and if they were not skillful enough the work was done by travelling weavers. When the flax was pulled it was put into a pond which is owned by Fernane of Minish for the purpose of "retting" that was causing the soft part of the flax, to decay, leaving the fibres.
The fibres were made into linen which was woven with a cloving tongs.
The weavers made linen shirts and sheets which they sold to visitors.
