    It was, and is, I regret to say is, a custom practice here to throw freshly burnt lime in pools in the river abá ní criaóa so as to stop the salmon and so render them easily got.
    Some 60 years ago liam óg Mc Cáríaig bán Rái-mór was burning lime. Three young men from Liorbáibe one being Patrick Ml. O'Donughue who spent a good deal of his time working in Limerick went and stole some lime and [?] on, with the intention of depositing some in the good salmon pools. They went in the direction
