    Where the rock at Curreal "turn" now stands once stood a beautiful castle owned by widow who had 3 sons. The level land now occupied by Droumcarbin boy was lawn-level and beautiful.
    She divided her wealth equally among her three sons but the eldest was not satisfied with his portion so he quarrelled with her. In her anger she raised a magic wand over the lawn and castle and the lawn became a boy and the castle a lump of rock. Hence the place is yet known as the turn of the castle and was haunted in years gone by by an old woman in black.
