- (continued from previous page)Long ago the road from Ballybay to Carrickatee was from Gray's House through the Demesne to Duffy the Barber's. The Landlord wanted this road private, so he had a road made from Gray's House passing the present Girl's National School to Duffy's. He employed men to do the work for 2d a day and from that to this it is called "The Two-penny Brae."
