  1. Games we play
    Outdoor
The outdoor games we play are Down on the carpet, The farmer in his den, Nuts in May, Tennis, Hockey, Rugby, Hand ball, Hurley, Golf, Skipping, Foot-ball, Fishing, Fig, Skittles, Marbles, Camogie, The grand old Duke of York, Tug of war, In and out the windows, Jumping, Swings and Racing. I like to play skittles. We get five little sticks each about four inches long. We stand these on their ends four of them to form a square and one in the centre. We number each of the five sticks. The centre one is twenty, two of the outside ones are ten each and the remaining two five each. We then get three longer sticks each about two foot long. We stand back five or six yards from the standing sticks and throw each of the long sticks at them to knock them. When the last stick is thrown we count up the value of all the little sticks knocked. The first player to reach one hundred has game.
