“Long ago about 100 years since in the time of the potato famine.”
Long ago about 100 years since the time of the potato famine. The English Government sent potatoes over to a shop in Formal, Castleblayney, Co Monaghan where James Hanna lives now. A man was only allowed to go once for potatoes in a bag it was no difference how big the bag was you could fill it. James Welsh, Vram [?] Castleblayney, Co Monaghan, brought a bed tick and filled it and he had eight hundred of potatoes in it. He trailed it down the road and put it in a cart and took it home.- Collector
