    threw the treasure which consisted of gold, into the Lake, at "The Belfast Steps," near the castle.
    3. On Mr Mahon's death, two of his followers escaped, when surrounded in the Castle. They took the gold, and started swimming the lake. The English soldiers followed them, in a boat, and when they overtook them, they dropped the gold in the lake.
