Watercress used to be eaten with some salt. Boxty and champ were eaten at Halloweve.
The spoons were left in the champ. If these spoons were moved it was a sign that one of the house would be dead before next Halloweve. Ashes were put round the pot. If a track was found going to the pot, it was a sign that there would be a birth or if it was going out it was a death.- Collector
