- Long ago in the time of the great St. Patrick there was supposed to be a serpent on Tier island in the townlands of Drumlougher and Drumacon. Every night at twelve o'clock this serpent used to flash his lights and any one that saw these lights would die.
After some time the people sent for St. Patrick. St. Patrick came and he said he would wait for the serpent. So one night he waited for him. Coming near twelve o'clock St. Patrick froze Lough Patrick with the clap of his hands.
