    A bunch of min was tied round the wrist as a remedy against disease.
    For a sty on the eyelid a gooseberry thorn was pointed to it nine times saying '' away, away, away''
    The cure for hip disease was to take three green stones from a running brook between midnight and dawn and then rub them to the sore spot saying
    '' Wear away, wear away
    There you shall not stay
    Cruel pain, away, away''.
    As a remedy against toothache the sufferer carried the haw bone of a haddock in the pocket.
    Another cure for the toothache was to go to a graveyard and say three Our Fathers on any grave and then take from the grave a handful of grass and chew
