a great feast on that day. The women folk are kept busy making fancy bread a few days previously. There are cakes of every kind made. There is boxty, potato-cake, currant bread, scones and pancakes made. Then on Shrove Tuesday the householders feast. They boil eggs and eat the different varieties of bread.
There are a good many "matches" made in this district. When a "match" is going to occur the man who is going to get married goes to the house of the girl whom he wishes to get married to, and asks her parents and if they consent the couple get married. Some-times the Bride gets money as dowery. (sic)
On the day of the wedding the couple go to the Chapel and get married and when they get married they come home to the bride's house and get their breakfast. Some-times they go away on their honey-moon from the Bride's house. Others stop at home and go away out in a car for a drive. Then they go to the town and take a room in a Public house and stop there for some time. They play gramophones and fiddles and amuse themselves. Then they go home to the house and dance the remainder of the night.
