    were usually made of clay and other mixtures.
    Half-doors were very common in olden times and still lots of them are to be seen. Some people who were rich used turff, and poor people sticks and brambles. The only light that they had at night was, peeled rushes dipped in lard. There were no candles or lamps in those times as oil or candles were not even heard of.
