Meat was seldom eaten and when used was home-cured bacon. The only kind of fish commonly eaten was the Herring. On threshing-days there was bacon, cabbage and potatoes in plenty for dinner. This was looked upon as a very special occasion.
Before cups became common, people used vessels made of pewter and tin. These vessels were larger than cups and of various shapes.- Collector
