- The name of this townland is Ballyragget. It is in the parish of Lisdowney and in the barnoy of Galmoy. There are about thirty families in the townland and about one hundred people. The family name most common is "White". There are four or five people over seventy but none of them know Irish. They tell stories in English.
There were nearly twice as many houses about forty years ago. The ruins of several remain and most of the people left the district and went to America when a flour mill was burned(continues on next page)- Collector
