- Long ago the people did not eat as often as they do now. They only ate three times a day. They took their breakfast in the morning about eight o'clock. They took their dinner at one o'clock and their supper at nine o'clock at night. At that time the people got up very early in the morning about five o'clock to do a big churn of milk and the would not eat a bite till they would do two or three hours work the people at that time always took porridge for their breakfast in the morning and tea and oaten bread and butter after it.
