  1. An old man calls at our house at Easter, Christmas and before St Patrick's Day. He lives three miles outside Ballygawley. He tells the people the news from distant parts. The local people gather around to hear him at a place called "The Weighbridge".
Mrs Kelly and Paddy Sherlock are the best-known travelling folk in the district. A man called Davitt from County Westmeath is also well known.
