  1. There are fairs held in Monaghan, Glasslough, Aughnacloy, Tydavnet, Clones and Castleblaney, and also in Ballybay. They are nearly always held in towns. Sometimes buyers and sellers, buy and sell at cross-roads. They are nearly always held in the street but in some places they are held outside the town. In Aughnacloy there is a fair on the first Wednesday of the month, and there are cattle sold in it. The cattle fair is always held on the street, and sometimes there are some horses in it. In Monaghan there is a fair on the first Monday of the month, and the cattle fair is held outside the town, and the horse fair is held in the town. There is a fair in Glasslough on the 3rd Friday of the month, and it is a cattle fair. It is held on the street. When the animal is sold they spit in their hands. When a calf is sold there is a mark put on its back with chalk. When they are taking them home some people put a halter on them and others do not. There is a fair held on the 3rd Saturday of every month. There
