    As a rule they come to attend horse fairs which are held in Castleisland.
    They do not tell stories or bring news from distant parts.
    Up to forty years ago travelling people used to put up in an out-house or in an uninhabited house, for a period of three months at a time - plying their trade - making tin vessels. They used to go about selling the tin vessels they made. They used also repair tin vessels. They used travel in families and usually walk from place to place. The Coffeys were the only family of tinkers who used to visit this parish (Ballyhar, Co. Kerry) about forty years ago.
