- It is said that it is unlucky for a wedding party to meet a funeral on their way home from the church or going to church. It is also said to be unlucky to lose or forget the ring. Long ago a man, Darby Hartnett from Leanfie lost the ring on his way to the church to be married. The priest said not to mind going trying for it but he formed a ring out of a blade of straw and married them with the ring made of the blade of straw as a wedding ring.
