    cradles. Basket-making was a great practice during the long winter nights.
    The Ropes
    The ropes were used for tying cocks or other things, and they were made from long bogdeal strips. It used be peeled and wound into big balls and that industry was a great help to the poor people, because they used to sell them. There were other ropes called "súgáns" and they were made out of "fionán" which was twisted with a "cruchan".
    Smithwork
    The gates, ploughs, spades, pikes, hasps and crooks were all made by the blacksmith.
    Weaving
    The women used spend the long winter nights combing, carding and spinning wool. When that was done it was taken to the weaver who would weave it into flannel. Once upon a time
