“Trammel fishing was the most used formerly, and those nets were home made.”
Trammel fishing was the most used formerly, and those nets were home made. They would send away to Barbers in Cork for the thread, and on the long nights they would begin their work. First they would make the needles and the mesh board of timber. The young people would stay up at night filling needles. the older ones would tie the thread on to the room door and up to the fire-place. Then they would get the mesh board and the beating needle and then they would work away. They would stay up until morning.- Collector
