    Nevertheless Mr G-y determined to follow him on horseback and overtaking him at a crossroad presented a pair of pistols and asked him where he found those sticks. Tadg who was as fearless as he was bulky answered " In Mr G-y orchard sir " You are a good hand at the stick " I can defend myself.
    Mr G-y who was a good swordsman there challanged him for a bout with sticks.
    As the offence he has comitted was punishable with death by hanging at that time he gladly accepted the challenge and the gentleman being an old soldier of the class who admired courage and bravery in others was more likely to shield him from the law than endeavour to secure his conviction. They both returned to the house and Mr G-y procured two sticks and handed Tadg one. He then asked his wife to come out and see him drub a west Kerry spalpeen. The fight then began.
    Mr G-y attacking in military fashion.
