- Castle-town.The original owner of Castletown, was Lord Dungan. He was first created Count Dungan of Clane, and after-wards Earl of Limerick. The same Earl and his only son fought at the "Battle of the Boyne" 1690 on King James I side, and his son was killed and their cause was lost, and the Earl in company with his wife fled to France.The estate of Castle-town was sold for £15,000, £6,000 of that money went to pay the Earls (def) debts in Ireland, and the remaining £9,000 were sent to him.That cut him off all-together and the title died with him.The estate was then purchased by the Right Hon.
