- Hidden TreasureHidden treasure is supposed to be found in every district in the country. These treasures were hidden by old misers before they died. Valuable vessels ere also hidden by monks, for fear that the Danes would seize their monasteries and whatever they contained.There is supposed to be a case of valuable vessels in the Liffey in Saint Wolstans. It is said that the monks placed it there before the monastery was closed down. If anyone tries to pull out the case they are supposed to be pulled into the river and drowned.There is also supposed to be a pot of gold in the Liffey, at a place in Castletown called the Bathing House. The water at this place is about thirty feet or more, deep, and there is a serpent around(continues on next page)
