- There are many local cures for whooping cough. One is to put the person who has the cough under a donkey's stomach and over his back three times. On the last time a cure will moult.
Another is to give an ass a piece of bread and give the sufferer the crumbs that fall from the donkey's mouth.
A round of bread cut by a woman whose maiden name is the same as her marriage name and given to the patient is supposed to be another cure.
The fumes of tart in haled by the patient are reckoned another cure for the whooping cough.
If a person meets a man ,feeding or riding a white horse and says '' o man with the white horse what will cure the whooping cough and whatever remedy he suggests(continues on next page)- Collector
