(continued from previous page)the Hatters Croos. A Hatter lived there. A great row of houses were built along the Hatters Cross roads. The remains of them are still to be seen.

Told to him by John Reegan. Aged 42 years. Prosperous Naas, Co. Kildare.
Clane is also a very historical village. There was a great fight near the Liffey. Mesgedra who was one of the kings that fought was slain. Then the other king took away Mesgedra's horses. The Queen came up to the spot where her husband was slain. She recognised her husband's horses. Then the other king told the Queen what had happened. She died immediately. Both of them were buried together.- Informant
