During the Penal Laws when priests were hunted some lived in bogs, some in caves and others in remote mountains.

Wolfe Tone was founder of the United Irishmen. His father was a coach-maker in Naas.

Wolfe Tone was (fa) founder of the United Irishmen. His father was a coach-maker in Naas. Wolfe Tone inflicted a wound upon himself. He was buried at Bodenstown near Sallins. Each year there is a great procession. Bands play also. Three volleys are fired over his grave during the procession. Boy Scouts, Soldiers and Girl Guides, accompany the procession bearing spears, guns, and banners.
In Bodenstown Churchyard there lies a green grave.
And wildly around it the Winter winds rave.
