- The people used to work before their breakfast long ago. They would get up at four oclock and work until eight o'clock. Then they would get cold stirabout and buttermilk or flummery. The people got milk from cows and goats. The people did not get beef often. If they got beef on Christmas Day they thought themselves lucky.
