    are hung up in the cowhouse to bring luck. The sign of the Cross is made on the cow with the froth of the milk and they say "God bless you, cailin". When a woman is calling turkeys she says [?] and [?] to hens. A woman, Mrs Dunne, who lived in Grangeclare, when she was calling the pig, she would say "hurrais, [?].
    When putting a hen to hatch a piece of iron is put under the nest to bring luck, and holy water is shaken on the eggs also. An uneven number of eggs is alway put down.
