    Local Cures or Preventatives
    There are other things called cures for ailments but are rather preventatives measures such as-
    1. Putting a young child under and across a young ass foal three times in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost to save the child from taking whooping cough.
    2. Giving the soup of a magpie to a child is supposed to save the child from whooping cough too. (The child is not to know what it is getting)
    3. Ferrets "leavings" are given for some purpose.
    4. The remains of food left after a meal eaten by a family whose father and mother have the same surname is said to cure the mumps. (which is a swelling of the
