    1. There were no shops out in the country in olden times and therefore people had to go to the nearest town. Buying was carried on after Mass. Groceries was bought. People used to come round gathering rags in olden times named "pedlars." Pat Grady was the name of one of them. There were coins in olden times that are not used now, such as a four shilling piece, a five shilling piece, and a sovereign. There were coins used in olden times which are used now such as "a kidd's eye" "a groat" "a ten shilling note""a bob" and "a tanner." A "kid's eye" was a three penny bit "a groat" was fourpence a "bob" was a shilling and a "tanner" was sixpence
