    "Change." To get a thing "on tick" is to get it but pay no money for it until you get it. To get a thing "on boot" is to get a thing and pay £1 or any money under the price of the article as security. Supposing a person gave £1 for an article which only cost 18/6 then the other 1/6 is called "Change" which is given back to the person who payed the £1.
    There came hucksters and pedlars and dealers buying feathers. The people used to give them rags and they would give them pins and needles instead. Pat Grady used to come round for rags The coins were farthings, half pennies, pennies, shillings.
