    great weddings died out because of two things. The unruly conduct of the strawboys, and the increased price of drink. When there was a wedding straw-boys came some of them for sport and others for drink and when they did not get drink they did harm. Another cause for the weddings dying out is the increase in the price of drink.
    Another custom was called the "drag home". After the wedding the bride did not go to the husband's house for about a week. When she went to his house there was another feast in the man's house with plenty of drink.
