- In olden times people generally sought cures from "knowledgable people," Travelling me and women, Poor Scholars and of course from Doctors. Sometimes the priest gave advice.
The locals were well tried before a doctor was sent for, and those who had similiar illnesses were regularly sought for a cure.
In Creeve, near Elphin about four score years ago a travelling woman cured Tuberculosis then known as "Decline."
For Toothache: Apply Whitsuntide Holy Water.
