    5 New shoes creaking is a sign that they are not paid for.

    8 To feel a ringing in your ears is a sign of the death of an acquaintance.
    9 If a weasel spat on your clothes it is said that you should burn them.
    10 There is a stream flowing through the townland of Curlody in to the River Suir. I cross every morning on my way to school. It is said to catch a certain small fish in this stream is a sign of death.
    11 A spark on top of a lighted candle is a sign of a letter coming to the person to whom it is pointed when it is first noticed. If the spark falls off when the candle is shaken the letter is posted if not the letter is being written.
    12 When you hear a cuckoo for the first time in the year it is believed that you will be soon going to the place that you are now facing.
