    be Saint Anne. There is no annual pattern but people visit it secretly for cures. Local people state, people have been cured of fever and aigue. By this they mean malaria. The well is visited on nine sucessive mornings before sunrise. The pilgrim walks round the well each time and drinks the water but no particular prayers are said. Something is attached to the tree by each pilgrim.
    Long ago a man named Butler went to cut a branch of the tree. When he was about to start he thought he saw his house on fire. He rushed home but everything was normal. He proceeded a third time to the well again though he saw his
