  1. Bread
    Bread was made in former time from wheat grown locally.
    Old people do remember querns which consisted of two large flags or stones.
    The kind of bread made was oaten meal cake and potatoe cake
    Water was used in kneading and enough bread was made on Monday to support them for the week
    A cross was cut on the top of the cake to help it to rise.
    A pot oven was used to bake the bread.
