- The smith was the most popular and rspected man in the parish at one time. In fact no other tradesman had so many people calling on him for different kinds of work. We had nine forges in this parish of Templeorum forty years ago. You may have to call three days before you could get anything done. At present only four remain. There is one at Harristown working three days a week. The Boolglass forge working the other three days by the same smith. This smith's name is Edward Aylward and the Aylward family have been smiths for seven generations. At one time five brothers of this family having a forge each at Harristown,(continues on next page)
