No vegetables were used. The people used have certain kinds of food for special occasions. They used have meat for Xmas day, and fish for St. Patricks day and eggs for Easter Sunday and collcannon for collcannon night, that is Hallow E'en.
Tea was never used until about the year 1857. At this time the stations used be held in the homes. One time the woman of the house made the tea for the priest and it was the tea leaves she gave him on a dish instead of the tea, and she gave him oatenmeal bread and a quarter of butter along with the tea leaves but before the priest went home he told her the way to make the tea. The people used tin pints to drink the tea out of and 'peggns' to drink the milk out of.
