    ago were made by themselves. The smith in Newmarket shoes plenty horses. Some of the smiths can make farm implements such as springs for a harrow or teeth for a hay-rake. The forge-water it is said to be a cure for chilblains.
    The smiths had a special power for banishing rats and mice. The people used to send the smiths gifts at Christmas. Smiths were always looked upon to be very strong.
