Nobody claimed the child and no inquiries could find out anything about it. One year afterwards the mother died. She was quite simple all the time and that night the little girl disappeared when or how nobody ever could find out. The old people thought it was the fairies that had given her the child and had taken her away again.
The neighbours searched for a long time in every place but could not find a trace of her. Some thought that the water that gave the child and claimed her again but nothing was found in the pit and everything still remained a mystery.
