  1. The churn we have at home is an end over end churn. It is about twenty year's old.
    We make butter three or four time's each week in Summer and once or twice in Winter.
    The women of the house or someone else in the house. Strangers help at the churning. The churning takes about a half-hour. The churning is done by hand. It is not always moved upwards and downwards. It is sometimes given a rolling motion from side to side. When the glass in the churn is clear the butter is made. Water is poured in during the process, cold water in Summer and hot water in Winter to make it the right temperature. The butter is lifted out on a wooden dish and put on the butterworker and washed.
