    Sweet memories of boyhood days come back to me to day,
    Of comrades true and maidens fair, that now have passed away,
    An through the mists of boyhood days a graceful form I see,
    The pride of all the parish round, was Mary Óg Macree.

    But soon a change is clearly seen, on that once smilling face,
    A healthier blush, and lustier eyes,
    Consumption you can trace, there's none can cure this lonely maid, so simple kind and free,
    The favourite long of young and old, was Mary Óg Macree.

    The night before dear Mary died,
    The Banshee mournful wailed,
    Resounded round that lonely
