    Oh! father dear and mother fond I'm thinking now of you.
    I hope you're hale and hearty, and feel no ache or pain
    Since I bade good bye to all I loved in dear old Curkishbane.
    How is all the family and my dear sister one
    Not forgetting my brothers all, that's Hughie, James and John
    How is Daniel Hanlon, from my native Irish town
    And fearless brave Tom Dwyer, the scholar of renown
