  1. In ancient times it was an old custom to tie a little piece of red cloth to the tails of the cows when they would be going out. This was to guard the cows against "superstitions." Another custom was to spit on the cows after their being milked. This was another safeguard against the "evil eye" as it was known to be. Religious emblems such as blessed palm and Holy Wayer were left in the byre, this being thought to bring good luck to the cattle.
    Horses
    The house in which the horses are kept is called the "stable" and it is mostly divided into "stalls" one horse being kept in each "stall"
